Fundamental to a student’s academic success is their emotional and social wellbeing.

All students should feel safe and supported at school. We believe students can learn from challenging experiences and develop both problem-focused and emotion-focused coping strategies.
The Victorian Framework for Improving Student Outcomes (FISO) emphasises the close connection of learning and wellbeing outcomes, and defines wellbeing as the development of the capabilities necessary to thrive, contribute and respond positively to challenges and opportunities of life.
We base our whole-school wellbeing approach on the principles of Positive Education and these are reflected in our whole school approach including student assemblies, engagement and wellbeing programs, our year 7-9 RESPECT Program, and year level camps.
Box Hill High School is also a Respectful Relationships Partner School with a clear focus on promoting respect and gender equality and teaching adolescents how to build healthy relationships, resilience and confidence.
We support students
- to develop the skills for personal achievement and wellbeing through Positive Education so that they establish positive relationships, challenge unhelpful thinking, become more resilient and engage in an open mindset.
- to learn from challenging experiences and develop both problem-focused and emotion-focused coping strategies.
- to be resilient, optimistic, life-long learners, curious and contributors to their communities.
