At Box Hill High School, we believe the uniform plays an important role in supporting students to take pride in their appearance, develop a strong sense of belonging, and be easily recognised as members of our school community. We are proud of the way our students present themselves, both at school and while travelling to and from school and see the uniform as a key part of our positive image within the broader community.
Our school has a compulsory uniform policy. Students are expected to wear the full academic uniform every day unless there is an approved ‘free dress’ event, or they are scheduled for a Physical Education (PE) or sports practical class on that day.

Uniform Expectations
- SunSmart – Students are expected to take responsibility for being sun smart by wearing a school cap or bucket hat during outdoor activities or staying in the shade.
- Hygiene – Hair and clothes should be neat and clean and of a standard acceptable in a school/work situation
- Uniform pass – Students without correct uniform must bring a note from home explaining the situation and present it to the appropriate Student Engagement Leader or the Attendance Officer.
- Excursions/Sport – Full school uniform is to be worn on all school excursions and sporting events unless otherwise notified.
- Hair color – Must be natural colors
- Hair – Simple accessories in black or navy.
- Jewellery – No jewellery, other than plain studs or sleepers in ears, may be worn. No facial piercings. No visible tattoos.
- Make-up – No make-up is to be worn at school. Clear nail polish only is permitted.
- Out-of-uniform days are sometimes held to raise money. Students must wear neat casual dress and neat safe footwear on these days.
