Extra-curricular areas such as Solar Car and Robotics, Performing Arts Precinct, performing with the School Band, undertaking private music lessons and expressing creativity in our annual Drama or Musical Production.
Our ACE Program available to Year 10 students provides social outlets while challenging endurance with Bubble Soccer, Stand-Up Paddle Boarding, Driver Education, High Ropes Course, Surfing, Rock Climbing, and Roller Hockey.
The Duke of Edinburgh Award - Leadership in Action Programme offers Tree Climbing, Kayaking, Escape Room challenges, Hiking, Parkour, Advanced First Aid, Navigation and the opportunity to hear motivational speakers present on Shaping your Destiny and Ace your Exams.
Our International Students are well supported by our International Student Coordinator, Darren Yap, highly experienced EAL teachers, a Mandarin speaking Psychologist and excellent teachers.
Box Hill High School has been a provider of education for International students since 1957, and has established many links with Asian countries. Our International Student Program has been one of the largest in Victoria since 1996. The school welcomes students in years 10-12 from a variety of countries and areas including China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, Taiwan and Indonesia.
We ensure that each student feels supported and confident in Australia as well as monitoring each student's visa status, attendance and academic progress at Box Hill High School. Upon request, we will organise homestay for students in a local family. We ensure that each student is comfortable in the new environment so that his or her stay at Box Hill High School is a happy one.
EAL teachers develop strategies which make learning in the regular classroom easier for our international students, who are generally highly motivated. Many have achieved excellent results and are now studying in universities of their first choice.
