Grease is the story of hot and hip Danny, and sweet and wholesome blonde Sandy, who fall for each other while on summer vacation.  They say goodbye, thinking they will never see each other again.  When Sandy turns up unexpectedly at Rydell High, she is rapt to see Danny once more – but this time he has a reputation to uphold as the leader of the Burger Palace Boys.

Danny and Sandy sort out their differences with the help of the Burger Palace Boys and the hip-swinging girl-gang, the Pink Ladies, as they sing and dance their way through such favourites as You’re the One that I Want, Greased Lightnin’ and We Go Together.

Following the success of its sell-out production of the Australian musical Eureka last year, Box Hill has assembled a cast of some 80 actors, singers, dancers, musicians and technicians for this fast and fun production of Grease, under the Direction of drama teacher Rod Charls, Musical Director  Elizabeth Cohen, and choreographer Kirsty Ritchie.

If you love the music of Buddy Holly, Little Richard, Elvis Presley, Frankie Avalon and all the guys who made the 50s a gas, then Grease is the word!

With book, music and lyrics by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey, Grease has remained one of the most popular musicals since its eight-year run made Broadway history in 1972.

It was famously filmed in 1978, starring John Travolta as Danny, and Olivia Newton-John as Sandy.  The stage play on which the film was based, has everything the film had – and more.
