Vale Annie Loke

It is with great sadness that I inform the school community of the death of our esteemed colleague and friend, Annie Loke.

Annie was a staff member at our school for 27 years. She started at BHHS in 1987 as a Home Economics teacher and then moved into coordinating our program for International students. At the peak of this program she was responsible for over 100 students. She cared for the students, she monitored their progress, she supervised their homestay and supported them in many and varied ways as students in a foreign land. Thanks to Annie, this program progressed from strength to strength. She was delighted that some of the income from this program was able to support and develop our school and its programs -without her leadership, the school would certainly not be in the position that it is today.

We recognise Annie for her hard work, commitment and love of the school and our international students. She was an inspiration and an invaluable support to staff and students alike. She organised overseas trips for our staff to meet parents of our international students and also to help us learn about the cultures of other countries. Annie helped to bridge the gap between international and Australian lifestyles. We loved her, we will miss her and we are so grateful to her. We express our deepest sympathy to her family.
